The aim of the project is to assist in development of more efficient in-furnace methods for controlling gaseous emissions from energy conversion technologies based on combustion and/or gasification. The main emphasis is put on technologies such as fluidized bed combustion (CFBC, BFBC) and combined cycle processes (PFBC, IGCC).The project consists of two parts: a) detailed chemical kinetic elementary reaction modeling and b) prediction of nitrogen oxide emissions from practical combustors. The following topics have been studied 1997: a) Detailed kinetic modeling: · effect of HCl and nitrogen oxides on CO burn-out in freeboard conditions during waste combustion in FBC. · effect of pressure on the Thermal DeNOx process under PFBC conditions.
